Después del Futuro/بعد المستقبل/After the Future
Ramzy Zahoual / Handpicked Wrecks /
This series is a photography etude on invading spaces, and how uncanny harmonies can come from uncommon combinations.
Often it happens that, at first sight, something insolently ordinary – or even ugly, like a left wreck is never appealing, although if looked through from a larger angle, our vision can change to make it more acceptable, and even pleasant. Wrecks track and sublime fragments of suburban deserted visions, by crossing the boundaries of cities like trough, a sharp eye pointing dysfunction of a chaotic society.
This work has been the result of long exposures, producing clichés that recall the force of time and its visual power of abstraction. Ramzy Zahoual is an artist who tends to exceed identity and vernacular issues; he continually questions the universality of the immediate environment, the crossroads of physical and mental borders.
